Renting a cabin or bungalow is a popular way to enjoy vacations in Chile. It's an easy process, and the only challenging part is trying to select a cabin that you love. Here at CabanasDeChile.com we want to help you find that perfect cabin.

Use this list of tips and questions to ask before you enter into any rental agreement to make sure you rent the cabin that corresponds to your needs and avoid unpleasant surprise.
  • Rooms and space Ask the owner about how the cabin is designed, what the different rooms are how they are organized: is it a one or two-story cabin (or more), are there stairs, is it a separate kitchen, where are the different rooms located, what is the view from inside the cabin, etc.
  • Usually for big parties it's important to know about the sleeping arrangements, how many beds there are and where they are located. Some cabins advertise that they can sleep many people but that means someone has to sleep on a futon, sleeper sofa, or bunk bed. Other times it means two double beds in one room. Ask to avoid unpleasant surprises.
  • What's included? Ask what is included with the cabin rental. Linens, towels, soap, toilet paper, etc.
  • Pets If you have a pet, make sure that pets are allowed in the cabin. If so, also ask about any extra fee for bringing your pet with you, and extra cleaning fee you would have to pay when leaving the cabin.
  • If you are allergic to pets, or just do not want to stay in a cabin where pets have been, ask the owner if pets have been allowed in the cabin.
  • Smoking If you or someone in your party smoke, you need to see with the owner if smoking is allowed in the cabin. If you don't smoke and don't want to be in a smoking cabin, confirm with the owner that the cabin is non-smoking.
  • Amenities Make sure you ask about the amenities available in the cabin, especially those you know you will need. Some examples of things to check for: cooking oven, kitchen appliances, dishwasher, entertainment devices for watching TV and playing movies, telephone, internet, washer, dryer, indoor and outdoor games, grills and barbecues, decks, patios, swimming pools, etc.
  • Heating and air conditioning In certain parts of Chile, and depending on the weather/season, heating or air conditioning might be required. You don't want to end up freezing at night (in the desert the days might be very ht and the nights very cold), or unable to move because it's too hot in the house. Make sure you know about the climate of the area you're going to, and then ask the cabin owner about the type of heating/air conditioning the cabin is equipped with (fireplace, gas, electricity, etc.).
  • Maid service Some cabins offer maid service. Check with the owner to see if it's already included in the price.
  • Attractions and activities You might want to find out what you can do in the area where the cabin is. Most of the times the owners know a lot about their area and the local attractions, and are happy to provide you with all the information you need. Some activities might require prior programming or reservations, some might require driving, other activities might need a few days or particular weather conditions. There might be fairs or festivals when you will be going. So make sure you get all the correct information so you can plan your trip adequately.
  • Cabin and site setup You might want to ask about where the cabin is located on the property, if there are other cabins next to it and how close they are, and what the view is from the cabin and around.
  • Checkout procedure This is something you can ask when you meet the owner, but you can also check before you rent what you are expected to do when you leave the cabin.
  • How to get there Be sure to get the directions to the cabins. For some cabins they will be very simple, for others indications from the owner might be required. Also, enquire about the road conditions, like snow on the road or four wheel drive requirements.
  • Discounts Some cabins offer a discount if you rent for several days, or a week, or (in case there are many people in your group) if you rent several cabins at once. Ask about any discount so you are sure you get the best rate.
