Split between copper mining and farming, the VI O'Higgins Region reflects rural traditions and ways of

identity. This area is known as the "huaso province" after the name of the Chilean cowboy, the huaso.
Winemaking has become increasingly important and the Wine Route is one of the main tourist attractions of the Cachapoal and Colchagua valleys. You will also find villages devoted entirely to handicrafts, such as Doñihue, where the traditional items of the huaso costume are woven, and Chimbarongo, which specializes in making wickerwork furniture and decorative items. The capital is Rancagua.
